Farmers should have right to fix price of their produce : Congress

Patna, May 25 (UNI) Congress on Sunday demanded for rights to farmers to fix the price of their produce.
Congress leaders raised the demand for farmers in a conference organised at state headquarters of the party and also targeted the government for its inaction in protecting rights of farmers. It was a pathetic condition that farmers were finding no option but to leave their farming profession as they were facing huge losses due to failure of the government in ensuring payment to Minimum Support Price (MSP) to them, they alleged.
National Convener of Bhartiya Kisan Congress Raj Kumar Sharma while addressing the function, said that the farming profession had become an affair of losses for them. It was a very grim situation as farmers were struggling hard for survival as they were not getting price of their produce, he pointed out.
" We will provide appropriate platform to farmers to voice their concern relating to their grievances", senior Congress leader Moti Lal Sharma said, adding that quality seeds should be made available to farmers by the government. Similarly, irrigation facilities and arrangements for marketing of agro-produce should also be made by the government to ensure justice to farmers, he added.
