Find new concepts, technologies that reduce bird strikes on aircrafts: Shelar

Mumbai, Jun 26 (UNI) In order to reduce the risk of bird strikes to air traffic, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) should immediately start the work by modernizing the Versova Garbage Transfer Center and inviting tenders for putting a roof on it within the next fifteen days, said Adv. Ashish Shelar, Minister for Cultural Affairs, Information Technology and Guardian Minister of Mumbai on Thursday.
To prevent birds from coming to the garbage collection centre and launch pad in the airport area, new ideas and ideas should be sought from scientists, environmental experts and young scholars, he said.

A meeting was held by the Ministry under the chairmanship of Mumbai Suburban Guardian Minister Adv. Ashish Shelar deliberating on reducing the risk of bird strikes to aircraft in the Mumbai Airport area.
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation Additional Commissioner Vipin Sharma, Amit Saini, Abhijit Bangar along with officials from Airports Authority of India, Directorate General of Civil Aviation, Mumbai Fire Brigade were present.
There is a large number of birds within 10 km of Mumbai Airport due to garbage dumps, mangrove forests or forest areas. This poses a threat to air traffic, he said.
