FIR against a man for raping and blackmailing married woman

Mumbai, July 1 (UNI) Police registered an FIR against a 37 year-old man for allegedly repeatedly raping a married woman for nearly three years by blackmailing her using her obscene video, which he had shot with a hidden camera, an official said here today.
According to police, the complainant is a married woman and resides in the Pathanwadi area of Malad in the city suburb.
In 2022, while she was taking a bath, accused Akbar Ganchi allegedly recorded a video of her using a hidden camera. Later he threatened to make the video viral and allegedly sexually assaulted the woman and recorded that encounter as well.
He later threatened to show this video to her husband and extorted cash and gold. Between 2022 and June 2025, the accused allegedly repeatedly raped her.
Police have registered an offence while the accused is at large.
The accused had even extorted Rs1.5 lakh and eight tolas of gold, said the police, adding that he is on the run.
A case was filed on June 28, said the police.
