Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Dist rolls out 3-month Financial Literacy Drive

Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, July 1 (UNI) A comprehensive financial literacy initiative mandated by the Union Finance Ministry's Department of Financial Services commenced across the district today, targeting enhanced economic empowerment for vulnerable communities.
The quarterly campaign, operating through local bank branches until September 30, prioritises rural women, senior citizens and backward classes through Gram Panchayat-level outreach.
Under the leadership of district collector Dileep Swami and Zilla Parishad CEO Ankit, the programme focuses on expanding banking access via Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana account openings, KYC documentation completion, and digital finance training.
Additional pillars include responsible borrowing education, financial fraud prevention awareness and enrollment in social security schemes – specifically Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Suraksha Bima Yojana and Atal Pension Yojana.
All national, private, rural, and district cooperative banks within the district will implement the campaign through awareness camps, public meetings and targeted outreach – particularly in financially underserved areas.
Authorities have urged self-help groups, village officers, panchayat representatives and citizens to actively participate.
