Fit-again Jemimah ‘can’t wait to get going’

New Delhi, Oct 30 (UNI) India batter Jemimah Rodrigues has been declared fit after completing three months of rehabilitation for a high-grade tear in her right hamstring. She suffered the injury while playing for Southern Brave in England’s The Hundred on August 3.
Jemimah announced the development on social media on Friday, saying she was looking forward to returning to the field after a lengthy recovery period. “Life Update: HAMSTRING HAS BEEN DECLARED FIT!!!!!!!! After 3 months of rehab. Now I can’t wait to get going,” she wrote.
The 26-year-old picked up the injury while representing Southern Brave against Welsh Fire in the Women’s Hundred in England. The setback also cut short her campaign in The Hundred, where Jemimah had made 143 runs in six innings and won two Player-of-the-Match awards.
Subsequent scans at the BCCI Centre of Excellence confirmed a high-grade tear, ruling her out of the Women’s T20 Asia Cup in the UAE, the Asian Games in Japan and India’s recently completed white-ball series against Zimbabwe at home.
With no immediate international or franchise commitments on the calendar, Jemimah is expected to feature for Mumbai in the ongoing Senior Women’s T20 Trophy. Her performances could help her stake a claim for selection in India’s upcoming all-format tour of South Africa in December.
The trip begins with a one-off Test at St George’s Park in Gqeberha from December 9, followed by three ODIs at Boland Park in Paarl on December 16, Newlands in Cape Town on December 19 and Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein on December 22. The tour will conclude with three T20Is, starting at Willowmoore Park in Benoni on December 26. The remaining two matches will be played at Senwes Park in Potchefstroom on December 29 and 30.
