Five Keralites die in Kenya bus accident, Kerala CM expresses deep sorrow

Thiruvananthapurm, June 10 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday expressed deep sorrow over the unfortunate death of five Keralites in a road accident in Kenya.
Though the Indian High Commission in Nairobi has not officially announced the details of the deceased, it is reported that five Malayalis died, the Chief Minister said.
Loka Kerala Sabha members, who have intervened through Norka Roots, informed that the Indian citizens, including the injured Malayalis, will be shifted to hospitals in Nairobi by road or air ambulance.

Meanwhile, Kenya Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary (CS) Rebecca Miano on Tuesday said "I am deeply saddened by the tragic accident involving tourists, which occurred last evening along Dundori-Oljororok Road. My heartfelt condolences to the affected families during this difficult time."
"We wish the injured quick and full recovery as I urge our drivers to be extra careful, especially along unfamiliar roads. Our sincere sympathies," she said.
In a post on X, the Indian High Commission in Nairobi said "We are deeply saddened by the tragic road accident on Ol Jororok-Nakuru Road in Nyandarua County, in which 5 Indian nationals have lost their lives. Our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. We pray for the swift recovery of the injured."
"The consular team from the High Commission is on the ground and is in close contact with the local authorities to extend all necessary support. We can be reached at +254 734916532," it added.
However, various media reports say "On June 9, at around 7 pm Indian time (4.30 pm Kenyan time), a tourist bus carrying 28 Indians from Qatar, rolled and landed in a ditch in central Kenya, killing at least six people."
