Five-year-old girl kidnapped for ransom, murdered; security guard arrested

Hyderabad, Oct 12 (UNI) Malkajgiri police have solved the kidnapping and murder of a five-year-old girl from a gated community in Bollarum by arresting a security guard working at the premises, Malkajgiri Commissioner of Police Sumathi said on Monday.
Addressing a press conference, she said the victim, Aurelia, daughter of Milton Fernandez Moses, a research scientist at Seed Works International Limited in Bollarum, was kidnapped on October 10.
The accused, Vikram Kumar, allegedly demanded a ransom of Rs 20 lakh from her parents at around 1945 hours that day.
Police formed 10 special teams involving Malkajgiri, SOT, Crimes and Special Branch personnel to trace the child. Investigators analysed 130 CCTV feeds within four hours and examined mobile call data. During a search of the gated community, the girl's body was found in a water sump in the cellar.
According to the police, the accused confessed to kidnapping the child for money and said he killed her by tying her hands and feet and throwing her into the sump, fearing he would be unable to keep her until the ransom was paid. The police are continuing the investigation to ensure the accused is brought to justice, the Commissioner said.
Sumathi urged residents of gated communities to verify the backgrounds of security personnel and maintain proper records of security guards, watchmen and domestic workers.
