Former sports minister Abdulrahiman to face SIT questioning in Messi fraud case

Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 17 (UNI) Former Kerala Sports Minister V Abdurahiman is likely to be questioned soon by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the alleged fraud committed in the name of bringing football star Lionel Messi and the Argentina national team to Kerala.
The questioning will be conducted after the SIT examines documents seized from the office of Reporter TV, as part of the investigation. The documents seized by the SIT will be produced before the court on Thursday.
The SIT will also seek the court's permission to send a mobile phone and a laptop seized during the investigation for forensic examination.
Meanwhile, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is preparing to intensify its action following the registration of a case by the SIT in connection with the alleged financial fraud carried out in the name of bringing Messi to Kerala.
With the SIT registering a case over the alleged financial fraud, the ED is examining the possibility of invoking provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
