Four dead, 5 injured in oil tanker fire in Indonesia

Jakarta, June 25 (UNI) Four people were killed and five others injured after a fire broke out aboard a crude palm oil tanker docked at a shipyard on Batam Island in Indonesia's Riau Islands province, local media reported today.

The victims were technicians working on the vessel Federal II, which was undergoing repairs at PT ASL Shipyard Indonesia in Batuaji area.

The fire reportedly erupted at around 2:15 p.m. local time on Tuesday while the tanker was docked for maintenance, according to media reports.

Batuaji Police Chief Raden Bimo Dwi Lambang confirmed that nine people were involved in the accident. "Four victims died, five survived. The total number of victims is nine," he said.

The injured were receiving medical treatment.
