GeM Ensures Transparency in Government Procurement: Om Prakash Jaryal

Dharamshala, Sept 21 (UNI) A one-day awareness workshop on smart manufacturing and the GeM-CPPP portals was organised at Sansarpur to promote digital transformation in the MSME sector and connect entrepreneurs with the government procurement system.
More than 40 entrepreneurs from the district participated in the workshop.
Chief guest and General Manager Om Prakash Jaryal urged all MSME units to register on the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal, saying the government procures a large number of goods and services through the platform, providing MSMEs with a secure and extensive market.
He said GeM not only ensured transparency in government procurement but also facilitated timely payments. Such awareness programmes play an important role in familiarising entrepreneurs with emerging technologies, digital platforms and government schemes, he added.
The workshop was divided into two technical sessions. The first session, conducted by GeM expert Abhilaksh Lau, focused on the GeM and CPPP portals. Participants were briefed on registration and onboarding, bidding procedures, compliance requirements, provisions reserved for MSMEs, payment procedures and opportunities available in government procurement.
During the session, several entrepreneurs were registered on the GeM portal on the spot by Amit of the RAMP team.
The second session focused on smart manufacturing and was conducted by K Sharma. He explained Industry 4.0, Internet of Things (IoT), automation, data-driven decision-making, productivity enhancement and quality improvement at lower costs through practical examples.
He said adoption of modern technologies could help MSMEs increase production capacity, reduce costs, improve quality and make their products more competitive in national and global markets.
Entrepreneurs also interacted with experts on various aspects of GeM and CPPP portals, digital procurement and smart manufacturing during the workshop.
