Giriraj Parikrama resonates with the melodious strains of the Ghosh (Sangh band); a musical conclusion to the Sangh's centenary year

Mathura, Oct 25 (UNI) Marking the conclusion of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh's (RSS) centenary year, Swayamsevaks from the Braj Prant (region) performed a 'Parikrama' (circumambulation) of Giriraj Maharaj (Govardhan Hill) while playing various instruments of the 'Ghosh' on Sunday.
This act served as a unique demonstration of their devotion, discipline, sadhana (dedicated practice), and commitment to serving the nation. The Parikrama route echoed with the harmonious melodies of the Ghosh.
Showcasing their musical talent and instrumental proficiency, the Swayamsevaks offered their salutations at the feet of Giriraj Maharaj, seeking blessings to continue their journey along the path of social service. More than 350 Swayamsevaks participated in the event.
Addressing the Swayamsevaks at the conclusion of the Parikrama, Braj Prant Pracharak Dharmendra stated that a Swayamsevak finds a way to move forward—even in the most challenging conditions—through patience, courage, and discipline.
While performing the Parikrama of Giriraj Maharaj is, in itself, an act of deep faith and resolve, completing it while continuously playing musical instruments serves as a rigorous test of physical endurance, mental fortitude, and collective discipline. Such programs inspire Swayamsevaks to confront challenges, remain steadfast during difficult times, and fulfill their responsibilities toward society, he observed.
He noted that Indian tradition holds a glorious legacy of achieving goals through tapasya (austerity), sadhana (dedicated effort), and firm resolve. The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh organizes various activities to cultivate similar qualities—patience, self-confidence, endurance, and a sense of duty—within its Swayamsevaks. The life of a Swayamsevak is not limited to personal advancement; rather, it is a life dedicated to society and the nation.
Dr. Kamal Kaushik, the Vibhag Prachar Pramukh (Divisional Publicity Chief) of the Sangh, stated that the hundred-year span of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has been a witness to a journey defined by struggle, dedicated effort (sadhana), organization-building, and service to the nation.
Through its work, the Sangh has endeavored to strengthen a sense of nationalism, discipline, a spirit of service, and cultural consciousness within society. Today, millions of swayamsevaks (volunteers) across the country are engaged in social work and fulfilling responsibilities aligned with the national interest.
He noted that the Sangh's role in strengthening India's cultural consciousness, Sanatan (eternal) traditions, and social cohesion has served as a source of inspiration for its workers. The participation of every segment of society is essential to transforming India into a developed, empowered nation that serves as an inspiration to the world.
The programs organized during this centenary year have encouraged swayamsevaks to reflect on their past efforts, enhance their engagement with society, and commit themselves to future work with even greater dedication.
On the parikrama (circumambulation) route near Shriji ki Haveli, Ramakant Goswami—a volunteer from the Shriji Baba family—noted that Sharad Purnima holds special significance within Indian religious and cultural traditions. It is believed that it was on this sacred occasion that the supreme yogi, Lord Shri Krishna, performed the Maha Raas (the divine cosmic dance).
Undertaking the parikrama of Giriraj Maharaj accompanied by the performance of Ghosh (orchestral musical compositions) on such an auspicious occasion represents a unique confluence of faith and culture. The musical pieces, played on various instruments, imbued the atmosphere of the parikrama with a spirit of devotion and jubilation.
