Global cybersecurity leaders to gather in Mumbai amid rising threats

Mumbai, May 23 (UNI) With India now ranking as the world’s second most targeted nation for cyberattacks, over 100 leading cybersecurity experts and organizations from across the globe are set to convene in Mumbai for the CyberSec India Expo 2025.
The event, scheduled for June 11–12 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre (NESCO), aims to address the escalating challenges posed by cyber threats to businesses, governments, and individuals alike, according to a statement issued here on Friday.
“Cybersecurity is no longer a matter of choice — it is a national imperative. The threats we face today are widespread, impacting businesses, individuals, governments, and even national security,” said Brijesh Singh, principal secretary to the Government of Maharashtra, in the lead-up to the conference.
He emphasized Maharashtra’s leadership in digital transformation and its commitment to supporting initiatives that prioritize security, trust, and technological innovation.
The CyberSec India Expo 2025 arrives at a critical moment for India, which recorded over 370 million malware attacks in 2024, averaging 702 detections per minute, according to the Data Security Council of India (DSCI). In just the first quarter of 2025, cyberattacks exceeded 369 million detections, positioning India second globally in attack frequency.
The most targeted sectors include healthcare, hospitality, and banking and financial services, highlighting the urgent need for robust cybersecurity frameworks.
Industry forecasts reflect the growing urgency: cybersecurity spending in India is projected to surpass $3.5 billion by 2025, with the market expected to expand at over 20% CAGR to reach $20.48 billion by 2030, driven by regulatory requirements, cloud adoption, and increasingly sophisticated threats.
The cybersecurity job market is also booming, with employment expected to reach ₹280 billion by 2025.
Taher Patrawala, Managing Director of Media Fusion LLC, the event organizer, said the expo aims to strengthen India’s cybersecurity ecosystem and equip leaders from diverse sectors with the knowledge and tools to counter emerging threats.
The event will feature participation and strategic partnerships from major global players such as 63 SATS Cybertech, ManageEngine, Seceon, and Netwrix, with several key initiatives expected to be announced.
“As warfare shifts from battlegrounds to bandwidth, cyberattacks are escalating in both scale and sophistication. Every compromised device now represents a potential threat vector,” said Neehar Pathare, MD and CEO of 63 SATS Cybertech, underscoring the need for collective resilience and innovation in the face of evolving digital risks.
