Gurugram Police impound 1,676 vehicles without number plates in 14 days, nearly triple September tally

Gurugram, Oct 15 (UNI) Gurugram Traffic Police impounded 1,676 vehicles operating without number plates in the first 14 days of October, nearly three times the 562 vehicles seized during the entire month of September, marking a sharp escalation in action against such vehicles and traffic violations.
According to police figures released on Thursday, the number of vehicles impounded between October 1 and 14 was almost 200 per cent higher than September's monthly total, reflecting a substantial increase in enforcement activity within just two weeks.
Police said the drive was aimed at ensuring proper vehicle identification, preventing misuse of vehicles without registration plates and strengthening road safety.
Traffic personnel are using CCTV cameras, the VOC app and field surveillance to identify vehicles operating without prescribed number plates and take action under applicable traffic laws.
Police emphasised that clearly visible registration plates are essential for identifying vehicles, tracing traffic violations and ensuring accountability on public roads.
Vehicle owners have been advised to install registration plates conforming to prescribed standards, including High-Security Registration Plates (HSRP) wherever applicable.
Gurugram Traffic Police said the drive would continue and urged motorists to comply with registration and traffic regulations to avoid penalties and impoundment.
