Harish Rao should stop writing open letters and do some soul-searching: Minister Seethakka

Hyderabad, May 20 (UNI) Telangana Panchayat Raj, Women and Child Welfare Minister Dr Danasari Anasuya Seethakka lashed out at former Finance Minister T. Harish Rao over his open letter to the Chief Minister regarding the salaries of Anganwadi teachers, accusing him of doing injustice to mini Anganwadi workers during his tenure.
In a statement here on Tuesday, while responding strongly, Minister Seethakka questioned Harish Rao's concern for mini Anganwadi teachers, pointing out that he had failed to promote them to main Anganwadi positions for a decade while in power. She criticised him for issuing Government Orders (GOs) before elections without proper approval from the Finance Department, calling them "GOs for votes."
"If you were truly concerned about mini Anganwadi teachers, why were their issues ignored for ten years? These GOs were just eyewash issued for electoral gains," she said. "Now, we are implementing these GOs legally and effectively, breaking free from the empty promises of your government."
Seethakka emphasised that the current government has taken concrete steps to address the longstanding issues faced by Anganwadi teachers. “We have already promoted 3,438 mini Anganwadi teachers legally, with the Finance Department’s approval. By April 2025, this process will be fully completed. Starting this month, they will receive salaries on par with main Anganwadi teachers,” she announced. She added that mini Anganwadi centers will be upgraded and new helper positions will be created.
Taking a further dig at Harish Rao, she said, “It would be more appropriate for you to apologize to the people who suffered under your rule instead of writing open letters. Your government’s negligence cannot be erased overnight. We are now fixing the damage caused over the past decade, step by step.”
Minister Seethakka reaffirmed the current government's commitment to strengthening the Anganwadi system and improving the welfare of teachers and helpers, urging Harish Rao to reflect on his past actions instead of resorting to political theatrics.
