Haryana clears Rs 131.35 crore projects for Gurugram, including major water treatment plant, Dwarka Expressway road upgrade

Gurugram, Oct 21 (UNI) In a major push to strengthen civic infrastructure in the National Capital Region (NCR), the Haryana government on Wednesday approved three projects worth Rs 131.35 crore for Gurugram, including a Rs 49.50 crore automated water treatment plant with a daily capacity of 100 million litres at Chandu Budhera, a Rs 30.85 crore upgrade of the Pataudi Road link to Dwarka Expressway via Gadoli, and a Rs 51 crore convention centre with a 50-room hotel at IMT Sohna.
The projects, aimed at improving drinking water infrastructure, road connectivity and business facilities in one of the NCR's principal economic centres, were cleared by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini during meetings of the High-Powered Purchase Committee and High-Powered Works Purchase Committee in Chandigarh.
The Rs 49.50 crore water supply project at Chandu Budhera involves constructing a fully automated water treatment plant with a capacity of 100 million litres per day (MLD), along with a clear-water reservoir.
The project is intended to strengthen Gurugram's water treatment and storage infrastructure, potentially improving the reliability of drinking water supplies as the city continues to expand.
However, the government has not specified which residential sectors and localities will benefit directly from the facility or announced a completion deadline.
In another significant infrastructure decision, the government approved Rs 30.85 crore to upgrade and strengthen the road connecting Pataudi Road to the Dwarka Expressway via Gadoli.
The project is expected to improve connectivity between residential, commercial and industrial areas, facilitating smoother movement of commuters and commercial vehicles along the corridor.
The government also cleared the construction of a convention centre on five acres at IMT Sohna at an estimated cost of Rs 51 crore.
The proposed complex will include an auditorium, commercial shops, a 50-room hotel and parking facilities, creating infrastructure for business conferences, corporate events and other commercial activities in the industrial township.
The approvals form part of a wider infrastructure development programme under which the state government sanctioned 13 Public Health Engineering Department works worth Rs 399.85 crore against an estimated cost of Rs 419.34 crore, resulting in projected savings of Rs 19.49 crore.
Saini said the government was strengthening waterworks, boosting stations and pipeline networks to ensure adequate supplies of clean drinking water.
He said the floors of water storage tanks at waterworks and boosting stations were also being reinforced with reinforced cement concrete to prevent seepage and reduce water losses.
The three Gurugram projects, however, fall under different infrastructure categories and are not all part of the Public Health Engineering Department's Rs 399.85 crore package.
While the approvals mark a fresh investment in Gurugram's civic and economic infrastructure, the government has yet to disclose the implementation schedules and completion deadlines for the three projects.
Several state ministers and senior officials attended the meetings.
