Haryana: Four arrested in two theft cases, stolen jewellery recovered; two proclaimed offenders booked

Hisar, Oct 26 (UNI) Hisar police have arrested four people, including two women, in separate theft cases, solving a three-year-old shop burglary involving goods worth Rs 20,000 and recovering all gold and silver ornaments stolen from a locked house earlier this month. Police have also registered separate cases against two proclaimed offenders for failing to appear before a court.
Police said a team from Barwala police station arrested three suspects, including two women, on October 25 in connection with a July 2023 theft at an electronics shop in Sarsod village.
The accused were identified as Seema, Sajna alias Chhanno and Kashmir, all residents of Rajnagar Basti in Tohana, Fatehabad district. They were apprehended near the Barwala bus stand by a team led by Head Constable Sunil Kumar.
According to police, the theft occurred on July 30, 2023, when women allegedly lifted the shutter of Bhukkal Electronics and stole copper wires, shrink-wrap material and other goods valued at approximately Rs 20,000.
The incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed at the shop. Following a complaint by shop owner Surender Singh, an FIR was registered on July 31, 2023, under Sections 454 and 380 of the Indian Penal Code.
Police said examination of CCTV footage and other evidence helped establish the suspected involvement of the two women. Further interrogation is underway to recover the stolen property and determine whether others were involved.
In another case, Sadar Hisar police arrested a suspect in connection with the theft of gold and silver ornaments from a locked house in Satrod Kalan on October 13.
The complainant, Anil Sharma, told police that he and his wife had left for work when the burglary occurred. His wife returned around 1.50 p.m. and found the house door open and an almirah broken.
Police said a team led by Assistant Sub-Inspector Praveen Kumar traced the suspect using technical inputs and intelligence and recovered all the stolen jewellery at the accused's instance.
The recovered articles included gold earrings, silver anklets, chains, bangles, rings, coins and other ornaments. The police statement did not disclose the suspect's identity or the total value of the recovered jewellery.
Meanwhile, police registered two separate cases under Section 209 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against Kamal Kumar and Amit Bika after they were declared proclaimed offenders for failing to appear before a court despite completion of the prescribed proclamation period.
Judicial Magistrate First Class Naina Jindal had issued orders in both cases on October 9, directing police to initiate action against the two individuals.
Police said further proceedings were underway in both cases in accordance with the court's directions.
