Panchkula, Oct 31 (UNI) The Haryana government has made registration with the Healthcare Professional Registry (HPR) mandatory for doctors, dentists, nurses, pharmacists and other eligible healthcare professionals seeking new registrations or renewals in the state.
Under the new framework, professionals granted provisional registration will have 90 days to obtain their HPR identification number, failing which their provisional registration will be suspended, restricting them from practising until the registration is reinstated.
The initiative, introduced under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), aims to strengthen the verification of healthcare professionals and establish a comprehensive digital database of registered practitioners across Haryana, State Health Secretary Dr. Sumita Misra has said.
The notification issued on October 30, and comign to effect in a month after beign gazetted, saysthat the mandatory HPR requirement will be incorporated into the registration and renewal procedures for five professional councils in the state.
"If a Healthcare Professional fails to obtain an HPR ID within the stipulated period of ninety (90) days, his/her provisional registration with the respective Council shall stand suspended without issuance of any further notice," the notification stated.
The new framework covers the Haryana State Medical Council, Haryana State Dental Council, Haryana Nurses and Nurse-Midwives Council, Council of Indian Medicine Haryana and Haryana State Pharmacy Council.
It also applies to eligible paramedical and allied healthcare professionals, including Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs), General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) professionals, B.Sc. and M.Sc. nursing professionals and pharmacists.
The government has provided a one-time 30-day transition window for healthcare professionals whose registration or renewal is due within 30 days of the notification's issuance.
Councils and departments must complete verification of HPR and professional registration, where applicable, within 10 days of receiving complete and valid online applications and supporting documents.
Councils must send at least three reminders via email and SMS during the 90-day provisional registration period.
Professionals with suspended provisional registration must complete HPR registration and apply for reinstatement within 10 days of obtaining their HPR ID.
Permission to resume practice will be granted after verification and approval by the registrar or competent authority of the relevant council.
The government expects the system to facilitate credential authentication, improve transparency, and help authorities assess the availability and distribution of healthcare personnel. The digital registry may also support workforce planning, monitoring, deployment and policy formulation.
Under ABDM, citizens can use Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts to link and access digital health records, subject to applicable consent, privacy and data protection requirements.
The State ABDM Office will periodically review compliance and coordinate implementation with the relevant councils and other authorities.
