Sirsa, Oct 12 (UNI) Sirsa Police have stepped up security at grain markets across the district during the ongoing harvest season, deploying additional patrols, Dial 112 vehicles and motorcycle units to prevent theft, robbery and other crimes amid increased movement of farmers, commission agents and traders.
Superintendent of Police Deepak Saharan said all station house officers (SHOs) had been directed to visit grain markets in their respective jurisdictions, assess security arrangements and conduct periodic reviews to identify and address potential vulnerabilities.
Police patrolling has been intensified around mandis, while checkpoints will be established wherever necessary to monitor suspicious persons and vehicles.

The SP also directed police officers to hold meetings with representatives of traders' associations to strengthen coordination and address security concerns during the procurement season.
SHOs have been instructed to create WhatsApp groups with grain market traders to facilitate the immediate exchange of security-related information and ensure a prompt police response to suspicious activities.
Saharan appealed to traders and commission agents to immediately report any suspicious person, vehicle or activity to the police.
He said the district police would maintain heightened vigilance throughout the harvest season to ensure law and order and prevent criminal elements from targeting farmers and traders.
