Palwal, Oct 25 (UNI) Two men have been arrested and three illegal country-made pistols and two live cartridges have been seized in separate operations in Haryana's Palwal district, officials said on Sunday.
A police official said the arrests were made by the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) and Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) as part of a crackdown on illegal firearms.
In the first operation, an ANC team led by P/SI Alok arrested Vishvendra alias Tantu, a resident of Godota village, following a tip-off near Godota-Banchari Road.
Police recovered two illegal .315-bore country-made pistols from his possession. The accused, who allegedly failed to produce a valid arms licence, already faces two serious criminal cases, the official said.
Meanwhile, a case under the Arms Act was registered at Hodal police station.
In the second operation, a CIA team led by Head Constable Chhotu Ram arrested Sagar, a resident of Bhiduki village, near the Bhiduki canal.
