Haryana: Vij presses Centre to fast-track Ambala ESIC hospital, set construction deadlines

Ambala, Oct 22 (UNI) Haryana Labour Minister Anil Vij has urged the Centre to expedite construction of the proposed ESIC hospital in Sector 33 here and set firm deadlines for the start and completion of the project, pointing out that the required land has already been handed over.
In a letter to union Labour and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, he sought directions to Employees’ State Insurance Corporation officials to complete the remaining administrative, technical and other formalities on priority to enable an early start to construction.
Vij said possession of 20,974 square metres of land, valued at approximately Rs 13 crore, had been transferred to ESIC’s regional director in Faridabad. The land was allotted by the Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran’s estate officer in Ambala.
“The land required for the hospital is available, and the project now needs to be expedited,” he said in the letter.
The minister said the hospital would improve access to specialist treatment for insured employees and their dependants in Ambala and neighbouring districts. It would reduce the need to travel to distant healthcare institutions and help ease pressure on existing hospitals, he added.
Vij stressed that accessible, affordable and quality healthcare was essential to workers’ welfare and the region’s social and economic development.
He requested the union minister to prioritise the project and establish a clear construction schedule so that employees and their families could benefit from the long-awaited facility at the earliest. UNI KK SS
