HECS, CREDAI hosts knowledge sharing session on regulatory compliance

Chennai, June 21 (UNI) Hubert Enviro Care Systems (HECS), in association with CREDAI Chennai,
organized a seminar on Environmental Clearance Requirements and Compliance in Chennai.
The event saw participation from industry leaders, environmental experts, policymakers and stakeholders who shared their insights and best practices on navigating environmental regulations and promoting sustainable development, a press release here today said.
Mr. Mohammed Ali, Managing Director of South India Shelters and President of CREDAI Chennai,
highlighted the bottlenecks faced in securing Environmental Clearances (ECs) for construction projects.
He underlined the potential implications of the recent Supreme Court judgment on the sector, calling for greater clarity, streamlined procedures, and proactive stakeholder engagement.
Dr. J.R. Moses, CEO of HECS, emphasized the critical need to understand and adapt to the evolving legal landscape.
A keynote session on the Legal Framework of Environmental Clearance and its Requirements featured presentations by Dr. Dwaraka Nath, Chairman of SEIAA-Pondicherry who shed light on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and India’s commitment to meeting them within defined timelines.
Dr. C.T. Puttaswamy, Professor at BMS College of Engineering, Mysore, and Member of SEAC
Karnataka elaborated on the role of EIA studies as strategic decision-making tools and complemented
by a SWOT analysis to enhance its practical relevance in project planning and execution.
Dr. Balasubramaniam, Professor of Chemical Engineering at Anna University and Member of the
Tamil Nadu State Disaster Management Committee, delivered an insightful session on waste management, emphasizing the intersection of science and policy.
He also called for an integrated approach to turn environmental challenges into sustainable development strategies.
An inspiring session on Mission LiFE – Lifestyle for Environment, an India-led global initiative for
sustainable living, was led by Dr. Murali Krishna Chimata, Additional Director at MoEF and CC,
Sub-Regional Office, Vijayawada.
His presentation encouraged attendees to adopt environmentally conscious practices in both professional and personal spheres.
