Himachal has climbed to fifth spot in NAS survey: CM

Kàngra, July 1 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu today said over the past two and a half years, the state has moved from 21st to fifth position in the NAS-2025 survey.
Similarly, improvements are being made in the health sector and its positive results will be seen in the coming months, said Sukhu.
Expressing commitment towards improvement in health sector, he said the state Government is giving top priority to health sector and adequate funds have been allocated in the current budget.
Sukhu said his government has set a target to include Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College, Tanda of Kangra district among the best health institutions of Himachal Pradesh in the next one year.
The Chief Minister held an in-depth discussion on various matters for about three and a half hours with the department heads and faculty members of Tanda Medical Colleg. He reviewed the staff requirements and took feedback about modern medical techniques.
He said the government will invest Rs 1,730 crore to equip all the medical colleges of the state with modern technology, due to which people will get high quality health facilities within the state itself and there will be no need to go out of the state for treatment.
During the conversation with the doctors, the Chief Minister said he wants excellent health services to be provided to the patients in Tanda Medical College.
He said the health sector is going through a phase of revolutionary change and the suggestions made during the dialogue will prove helpful in future policy planning.
The Chief Minister stressed the need to eliminate the waiting period for surgery and diagnostic tests. He said new departments will be opened in Tanda Medical College and high-end medical equipment will be installed for the convenience of the people.
Posts of paramedical staff, nurses, technicians and other support personnel will be filled to provide quality and accessible health services to the patients. He said that the number of GNM seats will be increased and B.Sc. Nursing course will be started in Tanda Medical College. UNI AR SSP
