Himachal: Kangra Police arrested four under NDPS Act seized heroin

Kangra, Sept 18 (UNI) Kangra police have arrested four people and recovered 18.81 grams of heroin (chitta) from them in two separate cases, police said here.
Superintendent of Police Kangra Kulbhushan Verma said that in the first case, the Baijnath police recovered 6.35 grams of heroin concealed beneath a mattress during a search of a residential premises.
Two persons, Anand Gurung, alias Kippu, a resident of Kathog in Baijnath, and Rahul Verma of Hoshiarpur, Punjab, were arrested.
A case under Sections 21 and 29 of the ND&PS Act has been registered at the Baijnath police station.
In the second case, Kangra police apprehended two persons near a rain shelter on Old Kangra Road and recovered 12.46 grams of heroin from their possession.
The accused were identified as Amit Kumar (25), a resident of Bagli in Kangra, and Nikhil Vyas (30), a resident of Majhanu in Panchrukhi.
Cases under relevant provisions of the ND&PS Act have been registered, and further investigation is underway.
Verma said police were conducting a detailed investigation to trace the source and supply chain of the contraband. The four accused would be produced before a court on Thursday, where police would seek two-day remand.
The SP appealed to the public to immediately inform the police about any person involved in the illegal drug trade, assuring them that the identity of informants would be kept confidential.
