Himachal: Shimla Police seizes Rs 4.13 cr properties linked to drug proceeds

Shimla, September 21 (UNI)Shimla Police has seized properties worth approximately Rs 4.13 crore allegedly acquired from proceeds of drug trafficking, taking the total value of properties seized by the police in 15 NDPS cases in 2026 to more than Rs 12.52 crore.
Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu while stating this on Monday commended the Shimla Police for its effective action against drug trafficking and for identifying and seizing properties allegedly acquired through drug proceeds.
Sukhu said the fight against the drug menace must go beyond the arrest of traffickers and seizure of narcotics and extend to dismantling the financial networks that sustain the illegal drug trade.
He appreciated the financial investigations conducted by the Shimla Police and its action under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
According to the Chief Minister, properties worth more than Rs 12.52 crore have so far been seized by Shimla Police in 15 NDPS cases during 2026, involving 68 accused persons and their associates.
He said the action against assets allegedly generated through drug trafficking would help weaken the economic foundation of the illegal trade and disrupt the financial networks supporting it.
The Chief Minister said the state government had adopted a zero-tolerance approach towards the drug menace and would extend all necessary support to the police and other enforcement agencies to take strict action against drug traffickers and their financial networks.
He directed the police to continue focused financial investigations and take action against properties and assets allegedly linked to proceeds of drug trafficking.
Sukhu said concerted action against both drug trafficking and the financial resources sustaining the illegal trade was necessary to make the campaign against drugs more effective.
