Honeymoon murder case : Meghalaya police nabs landlord

Shillong, June 23 (UNI) The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Meghalaya Police on Monday arrested the owner of the flat where murder-accused Sonam Raghuvanshi was hiding after
killing her husband, Raja Raghuvanshi, police said.

Altogether, eight persons, including Sonam Raghuvanshi, widow of the murdered businessman, have been arrested by the SIT code named “Operation Honeymoon”.

A Meghalaya Police official said that Lokendra Singh Tomar was arrested this afternoon from Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh by the Special Investigating Team (SIT) of Meghalaya with the help of Gwalior police.

Tomar is the landlord of the flat at Dewas Naka where Sonam had taken shelter while hiding in Indore, police said.

“Tomar is wanted in connection with the destruction and concealment of materials, evidences which are vital to the case,” Vivek Syiem, the district police chief of East Garo Hills, said.

Tomar had left Madhya Pradesh on June 16 for Uttarakhand and then left for Gwalior on June 22.

Syiem said the accused person and he would be produced before the local court in Gwalior for transit remand.

On Sunday the SIT had arrested two other persons Silome James and Balla Ahirwar. Both the accused have been arrested for destruction of evidence.

James is the property dealer and lessee of the building at Heera Bagh Colony, Indore where Sonam Raghuvanshi, the prime accused in the case and another accused rented it and stayed there.

Ahirwar, the security guard of the building, had allegedly assisted James in destroying some of the material evidence – jewellery, laptop, mobile and cash - which the prime accused left in the rented apartment.

All three accused will most likely be brought on Wednesday to Shillong.
