Silo warehouse of 50,000 metric tonne capacity inaugurated in Khagaria

Khagaria, June 23 (UNI) Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi inaugurated the newly-constructed Silo Warehouse with storage capacity of 50,000 metric tonnes at Pasraha in Khagaria district.
While inaugurating the Warehouse on Monday, Joshi said that this state-of-the-art facility will provide scientific grain storage, reduce post-harvest losses and improve the overall agri-logistics ecosystem in the region.
Terming it as a significant step towards modernisation of agricultural infrastructure and doubling farmers’ income in the country, he said that Bihar, with its immense potential, stands at the forefront of the transformation and the Centre was committed to empower its farmers and strengthen the rural economy.
Joshi, while referring to a World Bank report, said that during the 11-year tenure of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the extreme poverty rate has come down from 27% to only about 5%.
He said that about 26 crore people came out of the poverty line following the visions and welfare policies of the Prime Minister. Referring to the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana, he said that under this scheme, free food grains were being given to about 80 crore citizens and the number was more than the combined population of many European countries.
Referring to the schemes related to PM Surya Ghar Yojana, PM Kusum Yojana, the Union Minister said that India has become the fastest growing economy today because of these policies.
Speaking about the minimum support price, he said that the financial assistance was directly reaching the farmer's account within 48 hours. Rs 3,80,000 crore has been directly transferred to the accounts of the beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Yojana in a transparent manner, he added.
Highlighting the works taken up by the Centre in Bihar, the Union Minister said that projects like Kosi Mahasetu which were stuck for 20 years were completed on time. Along with this, the formation of Makhana Board exhibits PM's attention towards Bihar.
