HP: CUHP launches ‘Charaiveti 2026’ to revive historic Nandpur Fort

Dharamshala, Sep 21 (UNI) The Central University of Himachal Pradesh (CUHP) on Monday launched its week-long World Tourism Week celebrations with ‘Charaiveti 2026 – The Guler Conference’ at the historic Nandpur Fort in Guler, Kangra.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Sat Prakash Bansal announced that the university would adopt the fort for its restoration, conservation and tourism development, through sustained efforts by the School of Tourism, Travel and Hospitality Management and the Department of Visual Arts.
Chief Guest Prof Shashi Prabha Chaturvedi, Director, Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Shimla, said Guler, known for its world-famous miniature paintings, could be placed on the global tourism map through sustained, research-based efforts.
The event featured an exhibition of paintings depicting the Guler dynasty and its miniature art tradition.
Tourism Department Deputy Director Vinay Dhiman urged CUHP researchers to prepare an actionable proposal for developing the Guler-Nandpur tourism circuit.
A roadmap was also prepared to develop Nandpur Fort around four pillars—heritage, tourism, sustainability and eco-tourism.
More than 100 students, research scholars and faculty members participated in the programme.

Panchkula, Sep 21 (UNI) Haryana Police have arrested the alleged main accused in a racket involving the illegal siphoning and sale of fuel from tankers leaving an Indian Oil refinery in Hisar district and recovered about 901 litres of diesel, petrol and chemicals, police said on Monday.
