New Delhi, Oct 28 (UNI) The union Cabinet on Wednesday approved a 3 per cent increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for Central Government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) for pensioners, effective from July 1, 2026, providing relief against rising prices to nearly 1.18 crore beneficiaries.
Announcing the decision after the Cabinet meeting, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the additional instalment would raise DA and DR by three percentage points over the existing rate of 60 per cent of basic pay and pension, respectively.
With the latest revision, the DA for serving Central Government employees and DR for pensioners will increase from 60 per cent to 63 per cent of basic pay and pension. The decision is aimed at helping employees and pensioners offset the impact of price rise and maintain their purchasing power amid inflationary pressures.
