Jammu, June 21 (UNI) Around 1500 participants, including students and officials, on Saturday participated in the International Yoga Day organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports at Khel Gaon in Nagrota here on the city outskirts.
The Department of Youth Services and Sports, with the theme of International Yoga Day, "Yoga for One Earth, One Health", emphasising the deep link between personal wellness and the health of the planet, involved thousands of students, officials, senior citizens and people from all walks of life in yoga activities, thus celebrating the day in true spirit.
The participants attended the event with great enthusiasm and fervour to enjoy the moment that brought extreme bliss and ecstasy to everybody’s mind.
Director General of Youth Services and Sports J&K, Anuradha Gupta, the chief guest for the event, was accompanied by a galaxy of officers.
Locals and social activists also encouraged the DYSS by their support.
While addressing the gathering, Anuradha Gupta threw light on the significance of the day.
She said that yoga heals mind, body and soul and emphasised that every person must include yoga, pranayam and dhyan in their daily routine for their well-being, adding that the Department of Youth Services and Sports has incorporated yoga in its annual activity calendar and shall continue to promote it. She also complimented all teachers and students who performed week-long yoga activities in every district of J&K.
