Man arrested for impersonating Police Officer in Sopore

Srinagar, June 21( UNI) Police on Saturday arrested a man for impersonating a police officer in Jammu and Kashmir's Sopore sub district.
Police said Barkat Ahmad War resident of Zaloora and a driver by profession was arrested during routine naka checking at Harwan Crossing Bomai.
According to police, the individual attempted to flee upon spotting the police party but was quickly apprehended. A personal search led to the recovery of a fake police identity card and a forged driving license.
Preliminary investigation revealed that War had forged the identity card to pose as a police officer, allegedly with the intent to deceive the public and misuse the name of the police department for personal gain.
An FIR No. 32/2025 under Sections 205 and 319(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered at Police Station Bomai.

Further investigation is underway to ascertain the motive, possible misuse, and any wider links involved.
