IRS officer assaulted by 'unidentified' person in Lucknow

Lucknow, May 29 (UNI) Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer Gaurav Garg of the Income Tax Department was assaulted by an unidentified person following which he sustained injuries to the head, police sources said here on Thursday.
According to reports, Garg was assaulted by his senior officer.
Police sources said that Garg suffered head injuries and was immediately brought to the Civil Hospital where he was treated.
"Police received information about the assault on the IRS officer, however the attacker could not be identified. Police will take action on the basis of the complaint," they said.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Ashish Srivastava said that he has received information that the IRS officer has been brought to the Civil Hospital. "He is safe now and is undergoing a medical examination. Action will be taken on the basis of the complaint received about who hit him. There is no information about what the dispute was about. He is being treated," he said.
It may be noted that Garg is an IRS officer of the 2016 batch.
