Jarange Patil threatens to call all Marathas to Mumbai if he is not permitted to protest

Mumbai, Sep 16 (UNI) Maratha reservation agitator Manoj Jarange Patil said on Wednesday that if the Fadnavis government attempts to stop him from entering Mumbai on Friday, September 18, he will call all Maratha supporters to the metropolis in huge numbers.
“The name of the minister who said, ‘I will not allow you to come to Mumbai’ should be openly announced. There is no point in making such statements without mentioning the name of the minister,” Jarange Patil told media persons.
When he was told that ministers had criticised the harsh and rude language he had used against CM Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy CM Eknath Shinde, Jarange Patil said, “Was my language being well received by the government for the last three years?”
Jarange Patil questioned why there was no discussion in the cabinet about his language when he interacted with the government for the last few years. He said that if the situation had deteriorated due to the role of some ministers, that too should have been discussed in the cabinet meeting.
Alleging that the Maratha community has been cheated by the government, Jarange Patil raised the issue of the Shinde Committee and the Hyderabad Gazette process.
He said that the purpose of the camps being organised in the state is to find old records and distribute certificates based on them. He claimed that the government resolution based on the Shinde Committee mentioned searching for land records, courts, jails, sansthans, temples and other old records.
Therefore, before explaining the purpose of the camps, the relevant government resolution (GR) should be read, Jarange Patil said.
Jarange objected to the government's claim that 12 out of 13 demands of the Maratha community have been accepted. “What is the use of accepting the demands if the certificates were not being received or if those certificates were not being valid, as per the Hyderabad Gazette,” Jarange Patil asked.
He demanded that the government resolution (GR) regarding the Hyderabad Gazette must be revised and that a revised GR be issued for the Maratha community as well, similar to the revisions made in the GR regarding Vaishyavani, Vani and Hindu Vaishyavani communities on September 9.
Jarange also took a stand regarding the issue of the Maratha community in western Maharashtra who are said to be facing difficulties in getting reservations because they are economically strong.
“People from the OBC community in western Maharashtra get reservations even if they have agriculture, orchards and irrigation facilities. So why is there a different criterion for the Maratha community alone,” Jarange Patil asked.
