Jewellery worth Rs 3 Cr looted from a shop in Bihar

Sasaram (Bihar), Oct 27 (UNI) Four armed masked criminals looted jewellery worth approximately Rs 3 crore from Kanchan Jewellers holding the shop owner hostage at gunpoint near Mahatma Gandhi Chowk in Kochas town of Rohtas district on Tuesday afternoon.
According to police, the criminals who arrived by a motorcycle, threatened the shop owner with firearms and fled with the valuables. The robbers also took away the digital video recorder (DVR) connected to the shop’s CCTV cameras before fleeing the scene.
Rohtas Superintendent of Police Raj visited the spot following the incident. Sadar Sub-Divisional Police Officer-II Sanjeev Kumar and Kochas Station House Officer Pramod Kumar also reached the store and questioned the shop owner to gather details of the robbery.
Police are examining CCTV footage from cameras installed outside the shop and in the surrounding area to identify the suspects. Police stations in neighbouring areas have also been alerted, while raids and other investigative measures are underway to apprehend the accused.
The incident has raised fresh concerns over the security of local traders, particularly as Kanchan Jewellers had been targeted in a major theft earlier.
On the night of August 25, 2025, unidentified thieves allegedly cut through the shop’s shutter and stole jewellery worth approximately Rs 5.20 crore.
