Ranchi, Oct 5 (UNI) Newly appointed Jharkhand BJP in-charge and national general secretary Gajendra Singh Patel on Monday visited Ulihatu in Khunti district, paid tributes to Birsa Munda and met his descendants.
Patel was accompanied by Jharkhand BJP president Aditya Sahu and state co-in-charges Saurabh Singh and Nivedita Singh during his visit to Birsa Munda’s birthplace.
Patel met Birsa Munda’s descendants Sukhram Munda and Budhram Munda and enquired about their well-being.
He said the BJP would strengthen its engagement with the tribal community and expand its organisational outreach to villages.
Patel said issues related to the welfare, rights and development of tribal communities would remain a priority for the party.
He also referred to the Centre’s initiatives for tribal communities and the observance of Birsa Munda’s birth anniversary as Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas.
Sahu alleged that the Hemant Soren government had not paid adequate attention to the development of Ulihatu.

He also claimed that the BJP would form the government in the state in 2029.
Patel and the two co-in-charges later met senior BJP leader and former Lok Sabha deputy speaker Karia Munda and discussed the political and organisational situation in Jharkhand.
The BJP leaders also visited the residence of party worker and mukhiya Fagu Munda, where they had a traditional meal.
During the Khunti visit, the delegation paid floral tributes at statues of Subhas Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh and Jaipal Singh Munda and at a memorial to Gaya Munda.
