Jharkhand: Ranchi steps up security ahead of India-WI T20I

Ranchi, Oct 4 (UNI) Security arrangements have been stepped up in Ranchi ahead of the India-West Indies T20I at JSCA International Stadium on October 9, with police focusing on player security, traffic, ticket black marketing and cyber fraud.
A meeting of district administration, Ranchi police and JSCA officials was held at the stadium on Sunday to review security and crowd management arrangements and assign responsibilities for the match.
Ranchi SSP Rakesh Ranjan said dedicated routes had been planned for the players from the airport to their hotel and from the hotel to the stadium. Security personnel would be deployed along these routes as well as at the stadium during practice sessions and on match day.
Entry to the stadium would be allowed only with valid tickets or authorised passes, he said. Additional security personnel are also being provided by the police headquarters.
Ticket sales are scheduled to begin on Monday. Barricades have been installed at ticket counters to regulate crowds and police personnel will be deployed to prevent disorder.
Police will also monitor ticket black marketing and cyber fraud linked to ticket sales. Spectators have been advised to purchase tickets only through authorised counters or official JSCA channels and avoid suspicious links and social media offers.
JSCA president Ajay Nath Shahdeo said spectators should immediately inform police about any suspected fraud or suspicious activity related to ticket sales.
Traffic arrangements are also being finalised in view of the expected crowd around the stadium. Police will regulate vehicular movement and keep the designated route for the players’ convoy clear.
Ranchi Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantari said the district administration, police and JSCA were coordinating on security, traffic management, crowd control and arrangements for spectators.
