Jharkhand: Three killed, four injured in two road accidents in Bokaro

Bokaro, Oct 11 (UNI) Three people were killed and four others injured in two separate road accidents in Jharkhand's Bokaro district on Sunday, triggering road blockades by local residents demanding compensation and better traffic management.
In the first incident, two people were killed and four injured after an uncontrolled trailer rammed into roadside shops near Nagen More on National Highway 32 under Pindrajora police station limits.
The trailer, reportedly travelling towards West Bengal, crashed into shops where people were having tea. Two people, identified as Gui Ram Ojha and Shidam Ghatwal, died at the spot. The injured, including a woman, were taken to hospital. Two shops were badly damaged in the collision.
Pindrajora police station in-charge Ravi Kumar said police reached the spot after receiving information and shifted the injured to hospital. The cause of the accident was being investigated.
In a separate incident, a cyclist was killed after being hit by a hydra vehicle near Jodhadih More under Chas police station limits. The deceased was identified as Sundar Lal Mahto, a resident of Barpokhar village, who sold puffed-rice snacks while travelling from village to village.
Residents blocked roads near both accident sites, demanding compensation for the victims' families. The blockades disrupted traffic on the Bokaro-Purulia road. At Jodhadih More, residents also raised concerns over traffic management at the busy junction.
Chas Block Development Officer Pradeep Kumar reached the Nagen More site and assured the affected families of assistance under applicable government provisions.
Police were trying to persuade the protesters to clear the roads while completing the necessary legal procedures.
