JSW's Sajjan Jindal discusses fresh investments with Bengal CM Suvendu Adhikari

Kolkata, Nov 4 (UNI) JSW Group chairman Sajjan Jindal on Wednesday evening met West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari at Nabanna, where the two discussed investment opportunities across power, steel, cement, ports and power systems.

The meeting was Jindal's first with Adhikari since he took over as Chief Minister.
Adhikari said Jindal had held detailed discussions with him and promised that the groundbreaking ceremony for the group's second power plant unit would take place in the first week of January 2027.

"He has had a concrete discussion with me and promised that the groundbreaking ceremony for his second power plant unit will take place in the first week of January," Adhikari said.
He added that the ceremony would be held after the completion of a public hearing in December
and that he had agreed to attend it.
The Chief Minister said Jindal had also submitted a proposal to take over Midnapore Medical College and Hospital in its entirety, including facilities for children, as part of his corporate social responsibility initiatives.
"I have asked the Health Secretary to examine the proposal," Adhikari said, adding that the government would consider it subject to the conditions laid down by the state.
Adhikari also urged Jindal to expand his skill-development initiative and ensure employment for young people trained at the institute.
The JSW chairman had further expressed interest in renovating and maintaining several ancient temples in the state, the Chief Minister said.
"He told me that he had undertaken similar work at Kedarnath. We are preparing a list of ancient temples, which I will hand over to him.
He wants to take responsibility for maintaining several of these temples," Adhikari said.
JSW has an existing power project at Salboni in Paschim Medinipur, with plans for further expansion.
