Kakinada: Three-tier security at counting centres for ZPTC, MPTC polls: SP

Kakinada, Nov 6 (UNI) Three-tier security arrangements have been made at vote counting centres for the ZPTC and MPTC elections scheduled to be held on November 7, Kakinada District Superintendent of Police Garikipati Bindu Madhav said on Friday.
He said elaborate security measures, including round-the-clock surveillance through drone cameras, had been put in place at the counting centres located at PR Government College in Kakinada and Maharani College in Peddapuram.
Metal detectors would be installed at entry points, and candidates and their agents would be allowed inside only after thorough verification of permission letters issued by the authorities, in accordance with Election Commission guidelines.
The SP said victory processions and bursting of crackers had been prohibited. Winning and defeated candidates and their supporters should maintain restraint and avoid provocative actions or clashes.
Prohibitory orders under Section 30 of the Police Act and Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) would remain in force on the counting day. Movement of people in groups and holding of meetings would not be permitted, he said.
Warning of stringent action against those attempting to disturb law and order, the SP urged everyone to strictly follow the election code of conduct.
