Kakinada: Tourism promotes culture & traditions: MLC Padmasri

Kakinada, Sep 27 (UNI) Tourism is not merely about travelling and visiting places but also about understanding the culture, traditions and lifestyles of different regions, MLC Karri Padmasri said on Sunday.
Addressing the 'Explore Kakinada' programme organised at Silparamam to mark World Tourism Day, with the theme 'Tourism with AI Technology – Better Tourism and Good Future', she said India's unity in diversity was its distinctive strength.
She called upon people to promote the country's cultural values and family traditions and take them to the international level.
She also urged parents to encourage their children to participate in traditional art forms, dance and music.
The MLC appreciated the Kuchipudi dance drama and other cultural performances presented by students as part of the celebrations.
She said the state government was taking steps to develop tourism through innovative initiatives.
District Tourism Officer V.V.S. Lakshmanarao said Kakinada district had considerable potential for tourism development.
Historic temples and Uppada handlooms were among the major attractions drawing visitors from different parts of the state, he added.
