Kang (Ratha Yatra) celebrated in Manipur

Imphal, June 27 (UNI) Kang ( Ratha Yatra ) was celebrated in Manipur with religious fervor with hundred in attendance.
The idols of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra were taken to the Rath at
the premises of Shri Shri Govindajee amid chants of mantras accompanied with Pung ( Manipuri drum) performers, singers. Governor A K Bhalla , Speaker Th Satyabrata and others prayed for peace in the state.
Thousands of devotees singing the glory of Lord Jagannath pulled the chariot at the Palace Compound. Special security arrangements were taken up to control the crowd.
Large numbers of chariots of ISKCON and other temples filled the roads in the streets with
devotees singing and dancing. Every locality in the Manipur valley areas has a temple.
Day long celebrations will be done with people presenting Dasavatara, devotional songs of Poet Jaydev.
Classical Manipuri dance, song will be performed until Purna Yatra.
