Kanhav Nanavati upsets seeding order to win Bengaluru Squash Open title

Bengaluru, Sept 16 (UNI) Fourth seed Kanhav Nanavati upset the seeding order to clinch the Men's Open title at the White Lotus Bengaluru Squash Open 2026, defeating second seed Priyanshu Kumar in the final of the SRFI 3 Star National Circuit tournament here.
Kanhav defeated Priyanshu 11-6, 11-10, 11-12, 11-1 in the final to emerge champion.
The victory came after Priyanshu had produced one of the tournament's biggest results by eliminating top seed Adarsh Banodha in the semi-final, setting up a final between the second and fourth seeds.
Kanhav's triumph was among several standout performances in the five-day tournament, held from September 9 to 13 at The Bangalore Club, which attracted 305 players from 21 states across 17 categories.
The junior competitions also highlighted the depth of emerging talent. In the Boys U17, unseeded Dinesh R defeated three seeded players en route to his first national circuit final, where he finished runner-up to Aryaman Singh.
In the Boys U11, Vansh Rathi secured his first victory over second seed Kandasamy in seven attempts.
The Masters section produced another closely fought contest, with Maharashtra's Deepak Moolani saving four match points to defeat top seed Santosh Menon of Karnataka in the Men's Over-55 semi-final. Moolani eventually finished runner-up to Anoop Kabadwal.
Aadya Budhia won the Women's Open title after defeating Aaradhana Kasturiraj.
The tournament, organised as an SRFI 3 Star National Circuit event and sanctioned by the Squash Rackets Federation of India and Squash Association of Karnataka, comes at an important juncture for the sport, with squash set to make its Olympic debut at the Los Angeles 2028 Games.
Tournament Director Mekhala Srivastava said the 2026 edition was the strongest so far in terms of participation and competition, with its move to the SRFI 3 Star Circuit helping attract a wider field from across the country.
The event was sponsored by White Lotus Group.

Colombo, Sep 16 (UNI) Sri Lanka have announced their 15-member squad for the women’s cricket competition at the 2026 Asian Games, following their runners-up finish at the Women’s Asia Cup.
Captain Chamari Athapaththu leads the squad, which includes several players from the recent Asia Cup campaign as well as a couple of changes.
Vishmi Gunarathne, who impressed with important contributions during the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup and Asia Cup, is among the notable names missing from the squad.
