Kavitha urges CM Revanth Reddy to convene special Assembly session on OBC census, Adivasi religion

Hyderabad, Nov 1 (UNI) Telangana Rakshana Sena (TRS) President Kalvakuntla Kavitha has urged Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to convene an immediate special session of both Houses of the State Legislature to discuss the inclusion of an OBC caste census and separate recording of Adivasi religion in the upcoming national census.
In an open letter to the Chief Minister on Sunday, Kavitha said that with the door-to-door census scheduled to begin in December, the State government should take an early initiative to address these issues.
She sought the government's response to the ongoing agitations by OBC organisations across the country, demanding a caste-based census.
Kavitha also pointed out that Adivasis, who follow distinct religious and cultural practices, had been recorded separately in previous censuses. She urged the government to ensure that this practice continued in the forthcoming census.
She further called for the State Legislature to adopt a resolution seeking separate recording of Adivasi religion and forward it to the Central Government for necessary action.
