Kerala schoolgirl Nakshatra breaks Guinness record with 87 country calling codes in a minute

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 8 (UNI) Kerala schoolgirl Nakshatra S has set a new Guinness World Record by correctly identifying 87 country calling codes in one minute, surpassing the previous record of 77.
Nakshatra achieved the feat on April 20, 2026, at the Gago Convention Centre in Kadakkal, Kollam district, in the presence of official witnesses and timekeepers.
The record was achieved in the Guinness category "Most country calling codes identified in one minute", with Nakshatra raising the benchmark from 77 to 87.
The previous record of 77 country calling codes was held by Yuktha R Manoj, who achieved the feat in Exeter, United Kingdom, on July 19, 2025.
Nakshatra has been associated with Brain Hack since 2023. She initially learned various memory techniques and began applying them to her studies and daily learning. Her interest in memory training subsequently led her to take up increasingly challenging memory tasks and record attempts.
Before setting her sights on the Guinness record, Nakshatra trained in several memory challenges, including memorising the Periodic Table, country capitals and number-based sequences. She had also secured an Asian record before attempting the Guinness title.
She underwent nearly a year of systematic preparation specifically for the country calling codes challenge. Her sustained training and regular practice helped her perform under the strict one-minute time limit and eventually surpass the existing record by 10 codes.
Nakshatra is currently a Grade 5 student of Green Valley International School.
Her achievement has been the result of systematic training, consistent practice and discipline, coupled with the support of her parents, Sanoje S and Vidya R S.
For a Grade 5 student to reach an international record at such a young age is not the result of a day's preparation. It reflects the ability to set a goal, work towards it through regular practice and maintain concentration and performance under pressure.
Nakshatra's achievement thus stands as an example of how sustained practice, discipline and perseverance can turn a challenging learning goal into an international record.
