Kishau Dam Project will strengthen irrigation and drinking water systems: UP BJP chief Pankaj Chaudhary

Lucknow, Sep 16 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president and union Minister of State for Finance, Pankaj Chaudhary, has said that river water cannot be bound by state boundaries, and therefore, water management should also transcend state boundaries.
He said that under the leadership of the central government, important steps are being taken towards water security and proper utilization of water resources.
In a statement posted on social media, Mr. Chaudhary said that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) related to the long-pending Kishau Multipurpose Dam Project was signed between Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi, and Haryana under the chairmanship of union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah and in the presence of union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil.
He said that this initiative strengthens the spirit of "solutions through cooperation" and cooperative federalism. The project will help expand irrigation facilities in Uttar Pradesh and increase water availability for farmers. Additionally, the drinking water system is expected to be strengthened and the continuity of the Yamuna River will also be enhanced.
The BJP State President stated that this effort towards water security, farmer welfare, and agricultural prosperity will provide a new impetus to Uttar Pradesh's development.
