Kolhapur: Gokul Dudh Sangh president's election mired in politics: Satej faction elects its own president after Mahayuti boycott

Kolhapur, Oct 29 (UNI) The much-awaited election process for the post of Gokul Dudh Sangh president, which was to be held today, saw high drama as the 12 directors of the Mahayuti alliance boycotted the meeting, leading to its adjournment due to lack of quorum. However, Congress leader Satej Patil’s Samvichari Aghadi
held a separate parallel meeting and claimed to have elected Shashikant Patil-Chuyekar as the president.
Satej Patil’s group said their decision to elect the president was taken on the basis of majority as the alliance has 13 directors.
However, it has been mentioned that election officials are opposing this process.
Therefore, the cooperative sector is now paying attention to whether the election held in the parallel meeting will be officially recognized.
Earlier in the day, as all 12 directors of the Mahayuti faction boycotted the meeting and remained absent, the required quorum of 14 directors could not be completed. As a result, Mosami Chougule, the Principal Officer and Sub-Divisional Officer of the Karveer Department, adjourned the special meeting.
Today was the first special meeting of the newly-elected directors of Kolhapur District Milk Producer Farmers Sangh, popularly known as Gokul Dudh Sangh, to elect the chairman. The meeting was held today at 11 am at the head office of the organization at Gokul Shirgaon.
Out of the total 25 newly-elected directors of Gokul, only 13 directors, belonging to Satej Patil's group, were present for the meeting, while all 12 directors of the Mahayuti were absent.
As per the provisions of rules 14 (5A) and (12) of the bye-laws of the organization, the presence of at least 14 directors is legally mandatory for the meeting to be officially conducted.
As the quorum could not be met, the election process was officially adjourned.
After the meeting was adjourned, the 13 directors of the Satej Patil group who were present at the meeting took an aggressive stance.
They submitted a written representation directly to the election officials, requesting that the chairman selection process should continue as they have a clear majority of 13 directors.
However, officer Mosami Chougule rejected their representation, explaining that strict adherence to the rules is mandatory.
Refusing to accept the delay, the 13 Samvichari Aghadi directors remained inside the premises and staged a parallel meeting.
They appointed Babasaheb Chougule as the temporary meeting head, and utilized their 13-seat majority to unilaterally declare Shashikant Patil-Chuyekar as the new Chairman.
