Kolkata Metro unveils digital lockers for commuters

Kolkata, May 23 (UNI) Metro Railway, Kolkata, on Friday added a new facility for commuters, unveiling digital locker service at Howrah Metro station of Green Line-2, .
Any commuter will be able to hire this smart digital locker service for a maximum of 12 hours a day at Howrah Metro station. Similar digital locker service will be available at Dakshineswar, Sealdah, Park Street, Mahanayak Uttam Kumar and Esplanade stations soon.
The digital locker service was inaugurated at Howrah Metro station by Metro Railway general manager P. Uday Kumar Reddy in the presence of many senior officials
He said they were trying to provide improved facilities to the commuters at different Metro stations and expressed the hope that the passengers will use these facilities in numbers as it will be beneficial for them. With the opening of this facility at Howrah, now passengers can keep their luggage of different sizes in this locker safely at an affordable price and do other important work or attend to other programmes.
In another unique initiative, the " Relaxation Chair" service has also started at the Esplanade Metro station of Blue Line today.
Reddy said that the service would help commuters get rid of fatigue and soothe their strained nerves at an affordable cost and improve their experience of commuting. Such a Relaxation Chair service will soon be provided at the Dakshineswar Metro station.
Metro Kolkata is also providing quality medicines at an affordable price with the opening of Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendra (PMBJK) at Netaji, Dakshineswar and Sealdah stations.
Another such outlet will be opened at Kavi Subhas station of Orange Line very soon. For commuters, branded food outlets will also be opened at different Metro stations soon. Contracts for opening such outlets have been awarded for Howrah and Sealdah stations for providing an opportunity to the commuters to purchase all types of products required for regular household activities,
Besides these, the Multi Shopping Arcade will soon be opened at Dakshineswar Metro station. A contract for opening this Arcade has already been awarded. UNI PC SSP
