KSUM to hold Social Entrepreneurship Conclave in city on Sept 30

Thiruvananthapuram, Sept 17 (UNI) Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) will organise a Social Entrepreneurship Conclave here on September 30 as part of the State Government’s priority-based 100-day programme, officials said.
Industries and Commerce, AI and Startup Minister P K Kunhalikutty will inaugurate the conclave at Hyatt Regency.
Women and Child Development Minister Bindhu Krishna will launch the KSUM Women Startup Cell at the event. Transport Minister C P John will also attend the function.
The conclave will also mark the rollout of KSUM’s Social Entrepreneurship Programme and Patent Facilitation Centre, besides the release of the revised Women Startup Handbook. The first edition of the Startup Literacy Campaign will also be launched on the occasion.
Social enterprises seek to address social and environmental problems through innovative ideas and are generally perceived as non-profit service organisations. This often limits their access to support required for financial growth. Against this backdrop, KSUM is launching the Social Entrepreneurship Programme to provide comprehensive support to such enterprises.
Under the programme, KSUM will support innovative ideas through funding, mentorship, market access, branding and other forms of assistance.
Of the more than 8,000 startups in Kerala, women-led startups remain comparatively low in number. Recognising this gap, KSUM is launching the state's first Women Startup Cell to provide comprehensive support to women entrepreneurs.
The cell will offer guidance in technology entrepreneurship, financial assistance, branding, investor connects, marketing and other support required to develop ideas into quality products and viable enterprises. The initiative is designed as a comprehensive support system to help transform business ideas into profitable ventures, rather than merely providing financial assistance.
"The conclave aims to ensure that social enterprises are not viewed merely as non-profit service organisations. They deserve to be supported and made part of the social startup ecosystem by extending the required support," KSUM CEO Anoop Ambika said.
He said the Women Startup Cell had been established to attract more women to technology entrepreneurship and provide them with the necessary guidance.
The conclave will focus on promoting and empowering innovative and sustainable social enterprises in Kerala. MSME entrepreneurs, social entrepreneurs, startups, women entrepreneurs, government departments, Kudumbashree, local self-government institutions, investors and student entrepreneurs can participate.

AP CM to distribute title deeds of houses to 25,880 families
