KTR slams Telangana CM after ED chargesheet in National Herald case

Hyderabad, May 23 (UNI) In a significant political development, BRS Working President K T Rama Rao (KTR) launched a scathing attack on Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) named him in its chargesheet in the high-profile National Herald money laundering case.
Addressing the media in Hyderabad on Friday, KTR referred to Revanth Reddy as a “habitual offender” and a “bagman,” pointing to his involvement in the 2015 cash-for-vote scandal, where he was caught on tape allegedly offering Rs 50 lakh to secure votes. “This latest ED chargesheet confirms that his pattern of corruption has only continued,” KTR said.
According to KTR, the ED's chargesheet accuses Revanth Reddy — then TPCC president — of soliciting funds from business houses and bribing Congress office bearers during internal party appointments. “This is not political mudslinging. These are official claims by a central investigative agency,” he asserted.
KTR also criticised Congress MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy’s earlier allegations that Revanth had bought the PCC post for Rs 50 crore, claiming the Congress high command turned a blind eye. “Will Rahul Gandhi now take responsibility for protecting someone named in a legal chargesheet?” he asked.
He further alleged that under the Congress regime, Telangana has been plagued with a series of scams — including the Amrut, RR Tax, and Civil Supplies scams — claiming corruption has become institutionalised.
“This is an open-and-shut case of political favouritism and bribery,” KTR said, urging AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi to break their silence and take action. “Telangana is not the Congress party’s ATM. The people of the state deserve better.”
KTR appealed to constitutional authorities and national media to take note of what he called a "total collapse of governance ethics" in Telangana, adding that the developments demand immediate and transparent accountability from the ruling party.
