Bengaluru, June 30 (UNI) Amid ongoing media speculation about a possible leadership change in Karnataka, AICC General Secretary and Congress in-charge for the state, Randeep Singh Surjewala, today firmly dismissed such reports as baseless.
Speaking to reporters at the KPCC office in Bengaluru, Surjewala said, “Any news that is being circulated in the media about some leadership change etcetera is only a figment of your imagination.”
He clarified that the party is currently engaged in a structured internal process focused solely on governance and organisational strengthening. “This is an organisational exercise we are undertaking,” he said, putting to rest rumours of any imminent political reshuffle.
Surjewala also reiterated that discussions within the party are confined to three specific areas — the guarantee schemes implemented by the state government, allocation of development grants, and strengthening of the party organisation.
“Thank you so much,” he concluded, avoiding further questions on leadership-related matters.
Meanwhile, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah firmly dismissed leadership change rumours and asserted that the Congress-led government will complete its five-year term "like a rock".
Speaking in Mysuru alongside Deputy CM DK Shivakumar, he countered the Opposition’s claim that he may not inaugurate the upcoming Dussehra festival, affirming unity within the leadership.
He accused the BJP of spreading lies and dismissed Leader of Opposition R. Ashoka’s remarks as baseless.
Siddaramaiah clarified that AICC leader Randeep Surjewala’s visit is focused on party organisation, not leadership changes. The joint appearance with Shivakumar was seen as a deliberate message of strength and unity.
