Mah Cabinet Approves 3.81 Hectares of Land for Shegaon Sansthan

Mumbai, Oct 14 ( UNI) The Maharashtra Cabinet has approved the allocation of 3.81 hectares of land to the Shegaon Sansthan, fulfilling a long-pending demand of the institution. The decision was announced by State Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule after Wednesday's Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
Briefing the media, Bawankule said the meeting also discussed measures to tackle drought, revive drinking water supply schemes stalled due to outstanding electricity bills, ensure fodder availability for livestock and address the demands of OBC organisations.
Under the proposed mechanism to revive drinking water supply schemes, the government will identify villages where 75 per cent of the work has been completed but the remaining work has prevented the supply of water. Within 15 days, proposals estimating the expenditure required to complete these schemes will be placed before the Cabinet committee. The government will provide funds for the remaining work, Bawankule said.
The government has directed district collectors to ensure fodder availability in districts where livestock face shortages. Farmers cultivating fodder will be encouraged to sell their produce to meet the requirement.
The Agriculture Department will serve as the implementing agency, while the Animal Husbandry Department will oversee the administrative aspects.
Bawankule said water tankers would be deployed wherever necessary as a last-resort measure to address drinking water shortages. Their operations would also be monitored.
The government has decided to stop cement road construction works and redirect the funds towards water conservation, drinking water scarcity mitigation, farm roads and fodder-related activities.
Municipal bodies and panchayat institutions will not be permitted to use funds for cement road projects under this decision, Bawankule said.
The minister also appealed to OBC organisations to withdraw their ongoing agitation. He said a meeting would be held within the next 15 days to discuss their demands.
A preliminary meeting with OBC organisations was held on Wednesday, and further discussions would follow. The government would consider demands that are in accordance with the rules, he said, adding that the possibility of providing a separate fund for the community was also discussed. UNI SP CDS
